I heard good things about the food so I stopped in for late lunch. I ordered the 12 pc. jumbo shrimp and onion rings. The food came out fast and hot. Unfortunately the shrimp were not seasoned and extremely overbreaded. This was a disappointing first impression. The owner was welcoming and pleasant.
I stumbled into Sizzle & Fry and left obsessed. The hummus is silky, the falafel is crisp without being dry, and the lamb kebab melts in your mouth. Staff were genuinely welcoming and helped us pick a great spread. Portions are generous, prices are reasonable, and the place smells like fresh pita from the moment you walk in. Pro tip: add extra toum (garlic sauce) and finish with the pistachio kunafa. شغل عالي!
Food was extremely good. Owner was super friendly. The food has such an authentic middle eastern taste. Highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely come back!!
So this was my first time trying this place. My husband got the catfish and fries which were pretty good and the sweet chili wings were ok as well..But I ordered the 6 pc Jumbo shrimp and made it a dinner with 2 sides and a drink. So I got green beans and Mac and cheese. The jumbo shrimp batter they cook it in was awful and mushy. So I tried peeling the batter off to just eat the shrimp but then I was grossed out after I found out they leave the tail on the shrimp as displayed in picture. Not what I was expecting seeing as this place has good reviews. The green beans were disgusting and so was the Mac and Cheese. I'm glad my husband and son liked their food but this is probably something I will never poor my money into again pricey and I didn't get to eat dinner because I was grossed out.
I love dropping into local spots and being happily surprised. Friendly people, cute little shop. Definitely a local joint. Great food, great service. Loved the shrimp, fish, gizzards and chicken. All hot and fresh! The green beans were my favorite side. Different cheese cakes in case you somehow left room. I'll definitely be back wherever I'm in town.
Passing through Flint for the first time and decided to try a more local lunch option. Got the tilapia. Man it was great. These portions are huge, and the food is so flavorful and fresh. Not the best area, but everyone I talked to was incredibly nice.
The chicken had a lot of seasoning which I could appreciate but it was super dark like it was cooked in old grease. I thought I would like the fried dinner roll because it gave elephant ear vibes but it was overly greasy I even tried to reheat it in the air fryer to bring it back to life but I love the concept I think if I was fresh it might have been good. The beans and rice surprise me because they had celery in it which I've never had before and it also had kidney beans those are not a bean I'm used to seeing in my beans and rice. The flavor was great though. The macaroni and cheese was really creamy and had good flavor in the greens had visible chunks of meat in it those were delicious too. Overall I would definitely go back here and try them again on another day this was my first time and I know they're new and they're probably overwhelmed. It wasn't horrible it just wasn't as good as I think it could have been.
Decided to check out this small gem. It's a small takeout spot that also does catering. The owner and his staff are super friendly, and the food is made to order. We tried the fried jumbo shrimp, chicken, and catfish swai and their french fries. It all was very delicious and very flavorful!! For dessert, I grabbed an assortment of baklava. I was super excited to try them all. They also have various cakes, pies, etc. to pick from. I definitely will be back, and I recommend trying.
